ATEX refers to European Directive 2014/34/EU, which covers equipment and protective systems for use in areas endangered by potentially explosive atmospheres created by the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mists or dusts.

Definition: IECEx refers to the International Standard, which covers equipment and protective systems for use in areas endangered by potentially explosive atmospheres created by the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mist or dust.

Smith Systems, Inc. has an ATEX/IECEx electronics certified family of magnetic speed sensors for use in Group II (other than mines), category 2, G (gases, vapors and mists) applications. Category 2 refers to “increased safety under abnormal operating conditions”. This family of speed sensors employs the protection concept of encapsulation. These sensors are certified to temperature class T3 (200°C) and T2 (300°C). Smith Systems, Inc. is an ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 80079-34 certified company. Certificate numbers available upon request.

We offer housing options from M10 to 1” in diameter. All housings are sealed end, suitable for liquid immersion and high pressure applications.
