ATEX Certified Electronics Manufacturer

ATEX refers to European Directive 94/9/EC, which covers equipment and protective systems for use in areas endangered by potentially explosive atmospheres created by the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mists or dusts.
Smith Systems, Inc. has an ATEX electronics certified family of magnetic speed sensors for use in Group II (other than mines), category 2, G (gases, vapors and mists) applications. Category 2 refers to “increased safety under abnormal operating conditions”. This ATEX electronics classification is the US (NEC 505) equivalent of Class I, Zone I applications. This family of speed sensors employs the protection concept of encapsulation. These sensors are ISO 9001:2008 certified to temperature class T3-surface temperatures in areas not to exceed 200°C.
We offer housing options from M10 to 1” in diameter. All housings are sealed end, suitable for liquid immersion and high pressure applications.
